Copyright and Reprint Info

The content of this website, http://wolfram.org, is Copyright © by Eric Wolfram. (The SPIN Selling® material contained on this website is owned by Huthwaite, Inc. Any license (or license fees) provided in this notice for third parties to use the content of this web-site do not apply to Huthwaite's intellectual property). In any case, all Rights Reserved.

Linking to Wolfram.org

I am sometimes asked whether I will permit other websites to link to pages on wolfram.org. The answer is a resounding yes, I encourage you, and there is no reason to ask my permission to link (but feel free to contact me if you feel like it). Links are the foundation of the Web and you are welcome to link to as many pages on my site as you want.

Electronic and Online Reproduction

I do not permit other websites to copy my articles, stories, or images. If you are interested in referring your readers to one or more pages of information on this web site, then simply use a hypertext link to the original article stored on wolfram.org. The URL will always remain the same (at least as long as URLs are supported on the Internet, which I expect to be for a very long time). Thus, you can safely link to any of my pages.

Non-exclusive rights to copy my articles onto your own site are available for a license fee of $250 per article.

Physical Reprints (Paper Publishing)

If you are interested in publishing a physical reprint that is printed on paper (for example, a printed book or brochure or a set of handouts for a course), then you have permission to do so for free as follows: In this list, the term "page" refers to Web pages (HTML files with embedded pictures) and not the number of printed pages needed to reproduce an article.

These physical reprints are permitted under the condition that you include credit to the author Eric Wolfram and that you include the URL for each original Web page.

Note that the permission to reprint a number of my Web pages for free only applies to physical versions of your publications. If they have an online version, then please do not reproduce my articles there. Instead, simply link to the original pages on wolfram.org.

Special rule for CD-ROMs etc.: If you are manufacturing physical data storage media like floppy disks, CD-ROMs, DVDs, etc., then you can treat them as a physical reprint and include the allowed number of Web pages according to the list above if and only if you are not making the content of this physical storage medium accessible over a computer network. (A typical example that's OK would be to produce a CD-ROM with the full text of a book as long as the CD is only distributed with the physical book.)

Physical reprints that involve a larger number of my Web pages are only allowed with explicit permission which will involve a license fee of $250 per page. If anyone wants to print the SPIN Selling© content or use it in any other way, they must contact Huthwaite, Inc. for permission at 22630 Davis Drive, Suite 100, Sterling, VA 20164 (703-467-3800) or through its website at www.huthwaite.com.

Copying Style Sheets and Artwork

You are welcome to copy my CSS style sheet and the little arrow used in the navigation bar on the top of the page. If you want to use these design elements on your own site, then please make a copy and store them on your own server so that you don't add to the load on my server. This is the only exception to the rule of never placing copies of my work on other servers.

Other artwork cannot be copied without special permission, though I will often grant this if you want to use a single figure or picture.

Fair Use Quotes

Finally, the fair use clause obviously applies to this website: thus, if you are writing a review or commentary about Eric Wolfram or wolfram.org, you are free to illustrate your review or commentary with one or more screenshots of the site without special permission.

Also, you can quote any of my published work without special permission.

Even though there is no rule that requires this, it would be nice if any quote was supplemented by a link to the full story or article on wolfram.org so that any interested readers can retrieve the original context from which the quote was pulled.

Translation Rights

Translations are only allowed after paying a license fee which currently is $250 per article.
